TODAS LAS IGUALADAS PRESENTES / ALL THE EQUALIZED WOMEN PRESENT
Todas las igualadas presentes es una tipología de las mujeres del noroeste de México. He fotografiado alrededor de 300, algunas nacieron en el norte, otras llegaron y se hicieron norteñas, porque nadie puede escapar de lo que este territorio provoca.
Las mujeres del norte de México tenemos diversas famas, algunas palabras con las que en otras partes del país se nos reconoce son: gritona, igualada, soberbia, descarada, ranchera, silvestre y hasta “huevuda”. Todos estos adjetivos parten del comparativo con las mujeres más “civilizadas” y que fomentan y guardan las “buenas costumbres” y roles tradicionales.
El proyecto Todas las igualadas presentes; nace de observar como las mujeres que llegan de otras partes de la república, van perdiendo su timidez y empiezan a caminar erguidas, marcando el paso con tacones, en vestidos o pantalones entallados y decidiendo hablar alto sobre lo que les gusta y lo que no les parece justo. Sé que estas son detalles de forma, sin embargo, a través de ellos se asoma la transformación del fondo. Estoy segura que todas esas mujeres no hubieran tomado el mundo por asalto de la misma manera sin la geografía que les transforma.
Con estos retratos celebro su dignidad: mujeres que miran de frente, y que por desgracia nuestro país no les ofrece las garantías para ser y vivir con libertad. Hoy son ellas las igualadas, serán el tiempo, el entorno, las leyes y nuestras luchas las que decidan las condiciones del futuro.

All the Equalized Women Present is a typology of women from northern Mexico. I have photographed around three hundred of them; some were born in the North, while others arrived and became Northerners, because no one can escape what this territory does
The women from northern Mexico carry various reputations. Some words used to describe us in other parts of the country include: loud, assertive, proud, bold, rural, wild, and even "ballsy". All of these adjectives are based on comparisons with more "civilized" women who promote and uphold good manners and traditional roles.
The project All the Equalized Women Present arises from observing how women who come from other parts of the country gradually lose their shyness and begin to walk confidently, striding in heels, wearing fitted dresses or pants, and speaking out about what they like and what they find unjust. I know these are superficial details, but they hint at a deeper transformation. I am certain that all these women wouldn't have taken the world by storm in the same way without this geography that shapes them.
With these portraits, I celebrate their dignity: women who look straight ahead and, unfortunately, our country does not offer them the guarantees to be and live with freedom. Today, they are the equalized ones, and time, their environment, laws, and our struggles will determine the conditions of the future.
